Who We Are
The Chiswick W4 Rail Noise Campaign is an informal community campaign organised by AP Dasgupta and fellow residents. Contact: chiswickw4railnoise@outlook.com.
What Data We Collect
When you sign the petition we collect:
- Full name (required)
- Email address (required)
- Postcode (required)
- Phone number (optional)
- Resident status — whether you live in Chiswick W4 or are supporting from elsewhere
- Consent timestamp and IP address — recorded automatically when you submit the form
- WhatsApp opt-in — whether you chose to join the WhatsApp group
Lawful Basis
We process your data on the basis of your explicit consent, given by ticking the consent checkbox on the petition form.
How We Use Your Data
- Counting signatures — your postcode is used to display aggregate counts by area (e.g. "X signatures from W4"). Your name is never publicly displayed alongside your postcode.
- Formal submission — your name and postcode will be included in the petition document submitted to Network Rail and may be shared with local councillors. Your email, phone number, and IP address are never included.
- Campaign updates — we may email you with news about the campaign. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- Confirmation (double opt-in) — after signing, we send a confirmation email. Your signature is only counted once you click the confirmation link.
Data Sharing
We share your name and postcode with Network Rail and potentially local councillors as part of the formal petition submission. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Access to the database is restricted to the campaign organiser.
Data Retention
- Unconfirmed signups (email not verified) are automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Confirmed signatures are retained for the duration of the campaign plus 12 months, after which they are deleted.
Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access your data — email us and we will provide a copy.
- Delete your data — use the "remove my data" link in your confirmation email, or email us. We will permanently delete your record.
- Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your signature as above.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies or any tracking scripts. We do not use analytics services.
